Mel Johnson, M.Ed., LPCC

Location: Kent Office & Telehealth

Mel (she/they) earned her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. Mel provides both in-person and telehealth services and has expertise in the treatment of trauma, low self-esteem, and LGBTQ+ related issues. They are also passionate about working with depression, anxiety, and interpersonal challenges. Mel strives to support clients in building meaningful lasting change and instilling feelings of hope and empowerment.

Mel is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a Certified Expressive Arts Therapist. She is trained to write letters for affirming gender-related healthcare according to WPATH standards. Mel has also pursed additional training in LGBTQ+ affirming care.

About Mel:

Outside of work, Mel enjoys spending her free time with creative hobbies and junk journaling. She likes photography and plants, though she wouldn’t consider herself to have a green thumb. Mel also enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling. She is the proud cat mom to Tuck Tuck. Mel is known to get an iced latte, even in below freezing weather.
